| Twenty-Three |
So I'm having a hard time comprehending that I'm going to be 23 in just about 48 hours. Last year I thought 22 was bad and now before I had time to get used to that, I'm nearly another year older. While I can't wait to be done with school and out on my own, more so than now, there are some days that I just want to return to being 12. Now granted, 12 wasn't by best year. My parents were still on rather horrible terms and I actually was still rather bitter at my dad. Hmm... maybe I don't want to go back to being 12.
Now that I'm thinking about it, over the years, while college has been stressful, these have been some of the best years of my life. Sure there have been some sleepless, study-filled nights that I could do without as well as a painful, self-initiated heartache, but everything that I've learned these past few years is rather priceless. In all honesty, I'm probably better now than ever before. My relationship with my dad is better than I had every thought it could be, I'm just over 6 months away from receiving my college degree, and in May, I'll be returning to Orlando to a man I love and a great job.
Okay, so even though 23 is feeling old to me right now, in a few years I'll look back and say, "wow! I was still so young." Actually, if I think back, I don't feel near as old today as I had expected to a few years ago. I guess the lesson in all this rambling is that age is merely relative. You're truly only as old as you choose to be and never as young as you once were or as old as you'll be tomorrow.
This was me a year and two days ago... I'm not sure I look much older. |

25 is the hardest, and then 30 is rough, (I've only made it to 31, so I can't comment on any higher than that) but really, if it's not one of those milestone years then enjoy the cake, smile, and thank God for the year that was. What an amazing year you've had!! Adventure, love, achievement of goals, and a clear vision of the future. You are greatly blessed and loved by God. Congratulations and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
